शुक्लाम्बरधरं विष्णुं शशिवर्णं चतुर्भुजम्। प्रसन्नवदनं ध्यायेत् सर्वविघ्नोपशान्तये॥
Shuklāmbaradharaṃ viṣhṇuṃ shashivarṇaṃ chaturbhujam | Prasannavadanaṃ dhyāyet sarvavighnopashāntaye ||
I meditate on Vishnu, clad in white, bright as the moon, four-armed and serene of face, so that every obstacle may be removed.

विश्वं विष्णुर्वषट्कारो भूतभव्यभवत्प्रभुः। भूतकृद्भूतभृद्भावो भूतात्मा भूतभावनः॥
Vishvaṃ viṣhṇurvaṣhaṭkāro bhūtabhavyabhavatprabhuḥ | Bhūtakṛdbhūtabhṛdbhāvo bhūtātmā bhūtabhāvanaḥ ||
He is the universe itself (Vishvam), the all-pervader (Vishnu), the one invoked with 'vashat' in sacrifice, and the lord of past, future and present. He creates, sustains and is the very being and Self of all creatures, and causes them to flourish.

पूतात्मा परमात्मा च मुक्तानां परमा गतिः। अव्ययः पुरुषः साक्षी क्षेत्रज्ञोऽक्षर एव च॥
Pūtātmā paramātmā cha muktānāṃ paramā gatiḥ | Avyayaḥ puruṣhaḥ sākṣhī kṣhetrajño'kṣhara eva cha ||
He is the pure Self and the Supreme Self, the highest goal of the liberated. He is imperishable, the indwelling Person (Purusha), the witness, the knower of the field (the body) and the undecaying one.

योगो योगविदां नेता प्रधानपुरुषेश्वरः। नारसिंहवपुः श्रीमान् केशवः पुरुषोत्तमः॥
Yogo yogavidāṃ netā pradhānapuruṣheshvaraḥ | Nārasiṃhavapuḥ shrīmān keshavaḥ puruṣhottamaḥ ||
He is Yoga itself and the guide of those who know yoga, lord of primal nature and of souls. He took the man-lion form (Narasimha), is ever with Shri (Lakshmi), is Keshava and the Supreme Person (Purushottama).

सर्वः शर्वः शिवः स्थाणुर्भूतादिर्निधिरव्ययः। सम्भवो भावनो भर्ता प्रभवः प्रभुरीश्वरः॥
Sarvaḥ sharvaḥ shivaḥ sthāṇurbhūtādirnidhiravyayaḥ | Sambhavo bhāvano bhartā prabhavaḥ prabhurīshvaraḥ ||
He is everything (Sarva), the dissolver (Sharva), the auspicious (Shiva) and the unmoving (Sthanu); the source of the elements and the undecaying treasure. He manifests by his own will, sustains all, is the origin, the master and the sovereign lord.

स्वयम्भूः शम्भुरादित्यः पुष्कराक्षो महास्वनः। अनादिनिधनो धाता विधाता धातुरुत्तमः॥
Svayambhūḥ shambhurādityaḥ puṣhkarākṣho mahāsvanaḥ | Anādinidhano dhātā vidhātā dhāturuttamaḥ ||
He is self-existent (Svayambhu), the giver of joy (Shambhu), the sun (Aditya) and lotus-eyed, with a mighty voice. Without beginning or end, he is the supporter, the ordainer and the most excellent of all foundations.

अप्रमेयो हृषीकेशः पद्मनाभोऽमरप्रभुः। विश्वकर्मा मनुस्त्वष्टा स्थविष्ठः स्थविरो ध्रुवः॥
Aprameyo hṛṣhīkeshaḥ padmanābho'maraprabhuḥ | Vishvakarmā manustvaṣhṭā sthaviṣhṭhaḥ sthaviro dhruvaḥ ||
He is immeasurable, the lord of the senses (Hrishikesha), lotus-navelled (Padmanabha) and master of the immortals. He is the architect of the universe, the thinker (Manu), the shaper (Tvashta), the vastest, the most ancient and the unshakeable.

अग्राह्यः शाश्वतः कृष्णो लोहिताक्षः प्रतर्दनः। प्रभूतस्त्रिककुब्धाम पवित्रं मङ्गलं परम्॥
Agrāhyaḥ shāshvataḥ kṛṣhṇo lohitākṣhaḥ pratardanaḥ | Prabhūtastrikakubdhāma pavitraṃ maṅgalaṃ param ||
He cannot be grasped by the senses, is eternal, is Krishna, red-eyed, and destroyer at the time of dissolution. He is full in every way, the abode of the three regions, purity itself and the supreme auspiciousness.

ईशानः प्राणदः प्राणो ज्येष्ठः श्रेष्ठः प्रजापतिः। हिरण्यगर्भो भूगर्भो माधवो मधुसूदनः॥
Īshānaḥ prāṇadaḥ prāṇo jyeṣhṭhaḥ shreṣhṭhaḥ prajāpatiḥ | Hiraṇyagarbho bhūgarbho mādhavo madhusūdanaḥ ||
He is the ruler (Ishana), giver of life-breath and life-breath itself, the eldest and the best, lord of creatures (Prajapati). He is the golden womb (Hiranyagarbha), holds the earth within him, is the consort of Lakshmi (Madhava) and slayer of the demon Madhu.

ईश्वरो विक्रमी धन्वी मेधावी विक्रमः क्रमः। अनुत्तमो दुराधर्षः कृतज्ञः कृतिरात्मवान्॥
Īshvaro vikramī dhanvī medhāvī vikramaḥ kramaḥ | Anuttamo durādharṣhaḥ kṛtajñaḥ kṛtirātmavān ||
He is the almighty, full of valour, the bowman, the wise one, the one who strides across the worlds and the one who pervades. Unsurpassed and unassailable, he remembers every good deed, is himself action, and abides in his own glory.

सुरेशः शरणं शर्म विश्वरेताः प्रजाभवः। अहः संवत्सरो व्यालः प्रत्ययः सर्वदर्शनः॥
Sureshaḥ sharaṇaṃ sharma vishvaretāḥ prajābhavaḥ | Ahaḥ saṃvatsaro vyālaḥ pratyayaḥ sarvadarshanaḥ ||
He is lord of the gods, the refuge and supreme bliss, the seed of the universe and the source of all beings. He is the day and the year, elusive as a serpent, pure awareness, and the one who sees all.

अजः सर्वेश्वरः सिद्धः सिद्धिः सर्वादिरच्युतः। वृषाकपिरमेयात्मा सर्वयोगविनिःसृतः॥
Ajaḥ sarveshvaraḥ siddhaḥ siddhiḥ sarvādirachyutaḥ | Vṛṣhākapirameyātmā sarvayogaviniḥsṛtaḥ ||
He is unborn, lord of all, ever perfect and perfection itself, the beginning of all and the one who never falls (Achyuta). He is Vrishakapi (who lifted the earth as the boar), of immeasurable self, and free of every bond.

वसुर्वसुमनाः सत्यः समात्माऽसम्मितः समः। अमोघः पुण्डरीकाक्षो वृषकर्मा वृषाकृतिः॥
Vasurvasumanāḥ satyaḥ samātmā'sammitaḥ samaḥ | Amoghaḥ puṇḍarīkākṣho vṛṣhakarmā vṛṣhākṛtiḥ ||
He is the indweller of all (Vasu), of generous mind, truth itself, equal towards all, beyond measure and impartial. His acts never fail; he is lotus-eyed, and both his deeds and his form are dharma.

रुद्रो बहुशिरा बभ्रुर्विश्वयोनिः शुचिश्रवाः। अमृतः शाश्वतस्थाणुर्वरारोहो महातपाः॥
Rudro bahushirā babhrurvishvayoniḥ shuchishravāḥ | Amṛtaḥ shāshvatasthāṇurvarāroho mahātapāḥ ||
He is Rudra who makes beings weep at dissolution, many-headed, the sustainer and the womb of the world, of sacred renown. He is immortal, eternal and steadfast, the most exalted refuge, and of great austerity.

सर्वगः सर्वविद्भानुर्विष्वक्सेनो जनार्दनः। वेदो वेदविदव्यङ्गो वेदाङ्गो वेदवित् कविः॥
Sarvagaḥ sarvavidbhānurviṣhvakseno janārdanaḥ | Vedo vedavidavyaṅgo vedāṅgo vedavit kaviḥ ||
He goes everywhere and knows everything, shines like the sun, and is Vishvaksena whose armies scatter the wicked, and Janardana who moves the evil-doers. He is the Veda, the knower of the Veda, flawless, has the Vedas as his limbs, and is the all-seeing seer.

लोकाध्यक्षः सुराध्यक्षो धर्माध्यक्षः कृताकृतः। चतुरात्मा चतुर्व्यूहश्चतुर्दंष्ट्रश्चतुर्भुजः॥
Lokādhyakṣhaḥ surādhyakṣho dharmādhyakṣhaḥ kṛtākṛtaḥ | Chaturātmā chaturvyūhashchaturdaṃṣhṭrashchaturbhujaḥ ||
He oversees the worlds, the gods and dharma, and is both cause and effect. He has four aspects and four emanations (vyuhas), four tusks (as the boar or man-lion) and four arms.

भ्राजिष्णुर्भोजनं भोक्ता सहिष्णुर्जगदादिजः। अनघो विजयो जेता विश्वयोनिः पुनर्वसुः॥
Bhrājiṣhṇurbhojanaṃ bhoktā sahiṣhṇurjagadādijaḥ | Anagho vijayo jetā vishvayoniḥ punarvasuḥ ||
He is radiant, both the food enjoyed and the enjoyer, ever forbearing, the first-born of the world. Sinless, he is victory and the victor, the source of the universe, and the one who dwells again and again in all bodies.

उपेन्द्रो वामनः प्रांशुरमोघः शुचिरूर्जितः। अतीन्द्रः सङ्ग्रहः सर्गो धृतात्मा नियमो यमः॥
Upendro vāmanaḥ prāṃshuramoghaḥ shuchirūrjitaḥ | Atīndraḥ saṅgrahaḥ sargo dhṛtātmā niyamo yamaḥ ||
He is Upendra (younger brother of Indra), the dwarf Vamana who grew immensely tall, unfailing, pure and mighty. He surpasses Indra, gathers all at dissolution, is creation itself, self-restrained, the regulator and the controller within.

वेद्यो वैद्यः सदायोगी वीरहा माधवो मधुः। अतीन्द्रियो महामायो महोत्साहो महाबलः॥
Vedyo vaidyaḥ sadāyogī vīrahā mādhavo madhuḥ | Atīndriyo mahāmāyo mahotsāho mahābalaḥ ||
He is the one to be known, the knower of all lore, ever in yoga, slayer of the mighty demons, Madhava and sweetness itself. Beyond the senses, he wields great maya, has great zeal and great strength.

महाबुद्धिर्महावीर्यो महाशक्तिर्महाद्युतिः। अनिर्देश्यवपुः श्रीमानमेयात्मा महाद्रिधृक्॥
Mahābuddhirmahāvīryo mahāshaktirmahādyutiḥ | Anirdeshyavapuḥ shrīmānameyātmā mahādridhṛk ||
He has great intellect, great valour, great power and great splendour. His form cannot be described; he is ever with Shri, of immeasurable self, and bore the great mountain (Mandara or Govardhana).

महेष्वासो महीभर्ता श्रीनिवासः सतां गतिः। अनिरुद्धः सुरानन्दो गोविन्दो गोविदां पतिः॥
Maheṣhvāso mahībhartā shrīnivāsaḥ satāṃ gatiḥ | Aniruddhaḥ surānando govindo govidāṃ patiḥ ||
He wields the great bow, upholds the earth, is the abode of Shri and the refuge of the good. He is Aniruddha whom none can obstruct, the joy of the gods, Govinda, and lord of those who know the Vedas.

मरीचिर्दमनो हंसः सुपर्णो भुजगोत्तमः। हिरण्यनाभः सुतपाः पद्मनाभः प्रजापतिः॥
Marīchirdamano haṃsaḥ suparṇo bhujagottamaḥ | Hiraṇyanābhaḥ sutapāḥ padmanābhaḥ prajāpatiḥ ||
He is the radiant ray, the subduer of the wicked, the swan (Hamsa), the fair-winged Garuda and the best of serpents (Shesha). He has a golden navel, perfect austerity, a lotus navel, and is the lord of beings.

अमृत्युः सर्वदृक् सिंहः सन्धाता सन्धिमान् स्थिरः। अजो दुर्मर्षणः शास्ता विश्रुतात्मा सुरारिहा॥
Amṛtyuḥ sarvadṛk siṃhaḥ sandhātā sandhimān sthiraḥ | Ajo durmarṣhaṇaḥ shāstā vishrutātmā surārihā ||
He is deathless, all-seeing, the lion among beings, the one who unites and who abides in every union, and is firm. Unborn and irresistible, he is the ruler, the renowned Self, and slayer of the enemies of the gods.

गुरुर्गुरुतमो धाम सत्यः सत्यपराक्रमः। निमिषोऽनिमिषः स्रग्वी वाचस्पतिरुदारधीः॥
Gururgurutamo dhāma satyaḥ satyaparākramaḥ | Nimiṣho'nimiṣhaḥ sragvī vāchaspatirudāradhīḥ ||
He is the teacher and the greatest of teachers, the abode of light, truth itself and truly valiant. He is both the closing and the unclosing of the eye, wears a garland, is lord of speech, and is of noble intellect.

अग्रणीर्ग्रामणीः श्रीमान् न्यायो नेता समीरणः। सहस्रमूर्धा विश्वात्मा सहस्राक्षः सहस्रपात्॥
Agraṇīrgrāmaṇīḥ shrīmān nyāyo netā samīraṇaḥ | Sahasramūrdhā vishvātmā sahasrākṣhaḥ sahasrapāt ||
He leads to the highest place, commands the hosts, is ever with Shri, is justice, the guide and the moving breath. He has a thousand heads, is the soul of the universe, and has a thousand eyes and a thousand feet.

आवर्तनो निवृत्तात्मा संवृतः सम्प्रमर्दनः। अहः संवर्तको वह्निरनिलो धरणीधरः॥
Āvartano nivṛttātmā saṃvṛtaḥ sampramardanaḥ | Ahaḥ saṃvartako vahniranilo dharaṇīdharaḥ ||
He turns the wheel of samsara, yet his Self is withdrawn from it; he is veiled (by maya) and crushes the wicked. He brings back the day at its close, is fire (Vahni) and wind (Anila), and upholds the earth.

सुप्रसादः प्रसन्नात्मा विश्वधृग्विश्वभुग्विभुः। सत्कर्ता सत्कृतः साधुर्जह्नुर्नारायणो नरः॥
Suprasādaḥ prasannātmā vishvadhṛgvishvabhugvibhuḥ | Satkartā satkṛtaḥ sādhurjahnurnārāyaṇo naraḥ ||
He is graciously pleased, serene of heart, supports and enjoys the universe, and is all-pervading. He does good, is honoured by the good, is righteous, takes all into himself at dissolution, and is Narayana and Nara.

असङ्ख्येयोऽप्रमेयात्मा विशिष्टः शिष्टकृच्छुचिः। सिद्धार्थः सिद्धसङ्कल्पः सिद्धिदः सिद्धिसाधनः॥
Asaṅkhyeyo'prameyātmā vishiṣhṭaḥ shiṣhṭakṛchchhuchiḥ | Siddhārthaḥ siddhasaṅkalpaḥ siddhidaḥ siddhisādhanaḥ ||
He is countless in names and forms and of immeasurable self, the most excellent, the maker of the righteous, and pure. His aims are always fulfilled and his resolves always come true; he grants success and is the means to it.

वृषाही वृषभो विष्णुर्वृषपर्वा वृषोदरः। वर्धनो वर्धमानश्च विविक्तः श्रुतिसागरः॥
Vṛṣhāhī vṛṣhabho viṣhṇurvṛṣhaparvā vṛṣhodaraḥ | Vardhano vardhamānashcha viviktaḥ shrutisāgaraḥ ||
He is the lord of sacred rites, the showerer of blessings (Vrishabha), Vishnu, the ladder of dharma and the one whose womb holds dharma. He makes things grow and himself grows, stands apart, and is the ocean of scripture.

सुभुजो दुर्धरो वाग्मी महेन्द्रो वसुदो वसुः। नैकरूपो बृहद्रूपः शिपिविष्टः प्रकाशनः॥
Subhujo durdharo vāgmī mahendro vasudo vasuḥ | Naikarūpo bṛhadrūpaḥ shipiviṣhṭaḥ prakāshanaḥ ||
He has graceful arms, is hard to bear (for the wicked), eloquent, the great Indra, giver of wealth and wealth itself. He takes many forms and vast forms, pervades all beings as their light (Shipivishta), and reveals all.

ओजस्तेजोद्युतिधरः प्रकाशात्मा प्रतापनः। ऋद्धः स्पष्टाक्षरो मन्त्रश्चन्द्रांशुर्भास्करद्युतिः॥
Ojastejodyutidharaḥ prakāshātmā pratāpanaḥ | Ṛddhaḥ spaṣhṭākṣharo mantrashchandrāṃshurbhāskaradyutiḥ ||
He bears vigour, brilliance and splendour, is the radiant Self and the one who scorches. He is prosperous, of clear speech, the sacred mantra itself, cool as moonbeams and bright as the sun.

अमृतांशूद्भवो भानुः शशबिन्दुः सुरेश्वरः। औषधं जगतः सेतुः सत्यधर्मपराक्रमः॥
Amṛtāṃshūdbhavo bhānuḥ shashabinduḥ sureshvaraḥ | Auṣhadhaṃ jagataḥ setuḥ satyadharmaparākramaḥ ||
He is the source of the moon (born from the churning of the ocean), the sun, the hare-marked moon, and lord of the gods. He is the medicine of the world, the bridge across samsara, and his dharma and valour are true.

भूतभव्यभवन्नाथः पवनः पावनोऽनलः। कामहा कामकृत्कान्तः कामः कामप्रदः प्रभुः॥
Bhūtabhavyabhavannāthaḥ pavanaḥ pāvano'nalaḥ | Kāmahā kāmakṛtkāntaḥ kāmaḥ kāmapradaḥ prabhuḥ ||
He is lord of past, future and present, the purifying wind, the sanctifier and fire. He destroys desire and fulfils desire, is lovely, is the object of all longing, grants wishes, and is the master.

युगादिकृद्युगावर्तो नैकमायो महाशनः। अदृश्यो व्यक्तरूपश्च सहस्रजिदनन्तजित्॥
Yugādikṛdyugāvarto naikamāyo mahāshanaḥ | Adṛshyo vyaktarūpashcha sahasrajidanantajit ||
He begins the ages and turns their cycle, wields many illusions, and devours all at dissolution. He is invisible yet manifest in form, and conquers thousands and endless foes.

इष्टोऽविशिष्टः शिष्टेष्टः शिखण्डी नहुषो वृषः। क्रोधहा क्रोधकृत्कर्ता विश्वबाहुर्महीधरः॥
Iṣhṭo'vishiṣhṭaḥ shiṣhṭeṣhṭaḥ shikhaṇḍī nahuṣho vṛṣhaḥ | Krodhahā krodhakṛtkartā vishvabāhurmahīdharaḥ ||
He is dear to all, the innermost, beloved of the wise, wears the peacock feather, is Nahusha and dharma itself. He removes anger in the good and rouses it against the wicked, is the doer, has arms everywhere, and upholds the earth.

अच्युतः प्रथितः प्राणः प्राणदो वासवानुजः। अपांनिधिरधिष्ठानमप्रमत्तः प्रतिष्ठितः॥
Achyutaḥ prathitaḥ prāṇaḥ prāṇado vāsavānujaḥ | Apāṃnidhiradhiṣhṭhānamapramattaḥ pratiṣhṭhitaḥ ||
He is Achyuta who never falls, the renowned, the life-breath and its giver, the younger brother of Indra (as Vamana). He is the treasury of the waters, the ground of all, ever vigilant, and established in his own glory.

स्कन्दः स्कन्दधरो धुर्यो वरदो वायुवाहनः। वासुदेवो बृहद्भानुरादिदेवः पुरन्दरः॥
Skandaḥ skandadharo dhuryo varado vāyuvāhanaḥ | Vāsudevo bṛhadbhānurādidevaḥ purandaraḥ ||
He is Skanda, the upholder of the path of dharma, the bearer of burdens, the giver of boons and the mover of the winds. He is Vasudeva, of mighty radiance, the first god, and the destroyer of the demons' cities (Purandara).

अशोकस्तारणस्तारः शूरः शौरिर्जनेश्वरः। अनुकूलः शतावर्तः पद्मी पद्मनिभेक्षणः॥
Ashokastāraṇastāraḥ shūraḥ shaurirjaneshvaraḥ | Anukūlaḥ shatāvartaḥ padmī padmanibhekṣhaṇaḥ ||
He is free from sorrow, the one who ferries beings across, the saviour, the valiant, the descendant of Shura (Shauri) and lord of people. He is ever favourable, appears again and again (in avatars), holds the lotus and has lotus-like eyes.

पद्मनाभोऽरविन्दाक्षः पद्मगर्भः शरीरभृत्। महर्द्धिरृद्धो वृद्धात्मा महाक्षो गरुडध्वजः॥
Padmanābho'ravindākṣhaḥ padmagarbhaḥ sharīrabhṛt | Maharddhirṛddho vṛddhātmā mahākṣho garuḍadhvajaḥ ||
He has a lotus navel and lotus eyes, dwells in the heart-lotus, and takes on bodies. He has vast prosperity, is ever flourishing, the ancient Self, large-eyed, and bears Garuda on his banner.

सर्वलक्षणलक्षण्यो लक्ष्मीवान् समितिञ्जयः॥
Sarvalakṣhaṇalakṣhaṇyo lakṣhmīvān samitiñjayaḥ ||
He is incomparable, the indweller of bodies (Sharabha), awe-inspiring, knower of the right time, and the receiver of oblations (Hari). He bears every auspicious mark, is united with Lakshmi, and is victorious in battle.

विक्षरो रोहितो मार्गो हेतुर्दामोदरः सहः। महीधरो महाभागो वेगवानमिताशनः॥
Vikṣharo rohito mārgo heturdāmodaraḥ sahaḥ | Mahīdharo mahābhāgo vegavānamitāshanaḥ ||
He never wanes, is ruddy (as the fish avatar), is the path, the cause, Damodara bound at the waist by a cord, and all-enduring. He upholds the earth, is supremely blessed, swift, and of boundless appetite (at dissolution).

उद्भवः क्षोभणो देवः श्रीगर्भः परमेश्वरः। करणं कारणं कर्ता विकर्ता गहनो गुहः॥
Udbhavaḥ kṣhobhaṇo devaḥ shrīgarbhaḥ parameshvaraḥ | Karaṇaṃ kāraṇaṃ kartā vikartā gahano guhaḥ ||
He is the origin, the one who stirs creation, the divine, holds Shri in his womb and is the supreme lord. He is the instrument and the cause, the doer and the varied maker, unfathomable and hidden.

व्यवसायो व्यवस्थानः संस्थानः स्थानदो ध्रुवः। परर्द्धिः परमस्पष्टस्तुष्टः पुष्टः शुभेक्षणः॥
Vyavasāyo vyavasthānaḥ saṃsthānaḥ sthānado dhruvaḥ | Pararddhiḥ paramaspaṣhṭastuṣhṭaḥ puṣhṭaḥ shubhekṣhaṇaḥ ||
He is firm resolve, the ground of order, the final resting place, the giver of abodes and the unshakable. He has supreme glory, is most clearly evident, ever content, ever full, and of auspicious glance.

रामो विरामो विरजो मार्गो नेयो नयोऽनयः। वीरः शक्तिमतां श्रेष्ठो धर्मो धर्मविदुत्तमः॥
Rāmo virāmo virajo mārgo neyo nayo'nayaḥ | Vīraḥ shaktimatāṃ shreṣhṭho dharmo dharmaviduttamaḥ ||
He is Rama in whom the yogis delight, the final rest, the stainless, the path, the one to be led to, the guide and the one without a guide. He is the hero, the best of the mighty, dharma itself and the foremost knower of dharma.

वैकुण्ठः पुरुषः प्राणः प्राणदः प्रणवः पृथुः। हिरण्यगर्भः शत्रुघ्नो व्याप्तो वायुरधोक्षजः॥
Vaikuṇṭhaḥ puruṣhaḥ prāṇaḥ prāṇadaḥ praṇavaḥ pṛthuḥ | Hiraṇyagarbhaḥ shatrughno vyāpto vāyuradhokṣhajaḥ ||
He is Vaikuntha, the Purusha, the life-breath and its giver, the sacred syllable Om (Pranava) and the vast. He is Hiranyagarbha, slayer of enemies, all-pervading, the wind, and Adhokshaja who is beyond sense-knowledge.

ऋतुः सुदर्शनः कालः परमेष्ठी परिग्रहः। उग्रः संवत्सरो दक्षो विश्रामो विश्वदक्षिणः॥
Ṛtuḥ sudarshanaḥ kālaḥ parameṣhṭhī parigrahaḥ | Ugraḥ saṃvatsaro dakṣho vishrāmo vishvadakṣhiṇaḥ ||
He is the season, the bearer of the Sudarshana discus (or of auspicious sight), Time, the one who abides in the highest, and the refuge to be embraced. He is fierce, the year, skilful, the resting place, and the one to whom the whole world is offered.

विस्तारः स्थावरस्थाणुः प्रमाणं बीजमव्ययम्। अर्थोऽनर्थो महाकोशो महाभोगो महाधनः॥
Vistāraḥ sthāvarasthāṇuḥ pramāṇaṃ bījamavyayam | Artho'nartho mahākosho mahābhogo mahādhanaḥ ||
He is the expanse of creation, the steadfast ground of all that is fixed, the standard of knowledge, and the imperishable seed. He is the goal sought by all, yet himself needs nothing; the great treasury, of great enjoyment and great wealth.

अनिर्विण्णः स्थविष्ठोऽभूर्धर्मयूपो महामखः। नक्षत्रनेमिर्नक्षत्री क्षमः क्षामः समीहनः॥
Anirviṇṇaḥ sthaviṣhṭho'bhūrdharmayūpo mahāmakhaḥ | Nakṣhatranemirnakṣhatrī kṣhamaḥ kṣhāmaḥ samīhanaḥ ||
He is never weary, the vast, unborn, the sacrificial post of dharma, and the great sacrifice. He is the hub of the stars and the moon among them, the forbearing, the one who remains when all has waned, and ever engaged in creation.

यज्ञ इज्यो महेज्यश्च क्रतुः सत्रं सतां गतिः। सर्वदर्शी विमुक्तात्मा सर्वज्ञो ज्ञानमुत्तमम्॥
Yajña ijyo mahejyashcha kratuḥ satraṃ satāṃ gatiḥ | Sarvadarshī vimuktātmā sarvajño jñānamuttamam ||
He is the sacrifice, the one to be worshipped, the most worshipful, the ritual and the long sacrifice, the refuge of the good. He sees all, his Self is ever free, he knows all, and he is the highest knowledge.

सुव्रतः सुमुखः सूक्ष्मः सुघोषः सुखदः सुहृत्। मनोहरो जितक्रोधो वीरबाहुर्विदारणः॥
Suvrataḥ sumukhaḥ sūkṣhmaḥ sughoṣhaḥ sukhadaḥ suhṛt | Manoharo jitakrodho vīrabāhurvidāraṇaḥ ||
He keeps holy vows, has a gracious face, is subtle, of auspicious sound, giver of happiness and the friend of all. He captivates the mind, has conquered anger, has heroic arms, and tears apart the wicked.

स्वापनः स्ववशो व्यापी नैकात्मा नैककर्मकृत्। वत्सरो वत्सलो वत्सी रत्नगर्भो धनेश्वरः॥
Svāpanaḥ svavasho vyāpī naikātmā naikakarmakṛt | Vatsaro vatsalo vatsī ratnagarbho dhaneshvaraḥ ||
He lulls beings into the sleep of maya, is self-governed and all-pervading, has many forms and does many deeds. He dwells everywhere, loves his devotees as a mother loves her calf, cherishes them, holds gems in his womb, and is lord of wealth.

धर्मगुब्धर्मकृद्धर्मी सदसत्क्षरमक्षरम्। अविज्ञाता सहस्रांशुर्विधाता कृतलक्षणः॥
Dharmagubdharmakṛddharmī sadasatkṣharamakṣharam | Avijñātā sahasrāṃshurvidhātā kṛtalakṣhaṇaḥ ||
He protects dharma, establishes dharma and upholds it; he is the real and the unreal, the perishable and the imperishable. Free of the limits of a mere knower, he is thousand-rayed, the ordainer, and the bearer of all auspicious marks.

गभस्तिनेमिः सत्त्वस्थः सिंहो भूतमहेश्वरः। आदिदेवो महादेवो देवेशो देवभृद्गुरुः॥
Gabhastinemiḥ sattvasthaḥ siṃho bhūtamaheshvaraḥ | Ādidevo mahādevo devesho devabhṛdguruḥ ||
He is the axle round which the rays turn, dwells in pure goodness (sattva), is the lion, and great lord of all beings. He is the first god, the great god (Mahadeva), lord of the gods, and preceptor of Indra, the protector of the gods.

उत्तरो गोपतिर्गोप्ता ज्ञानगम्यः पुरातनः। शरीरभूतभृद्भोक्ता कपीन्द्रो भूरिदक्षिणः॥
Uttaro gopatirgoptā jñānagamyaḥ purātanaḥ | Sharīrabhūtabhṛdbhoktā kapīndro bhūridakṣhiṇaḥ ||
He lifts beings beyond samsara, is lord and protector of cows (Gopati, Gopta), known through knowledge, and ancient. He sustains the elements that form bodies, is the enjoyer, lord of the monkeys (as Rama), and gives generously in sacrifice.

सोमपोऽमृतपः सोमः पुरुजित्पुरुसत्तमः। विनयो जयः सत्यसन्धो दाशार्हः सात्वताम्पतिः॥
Somapo'mṛtapaḥ somaḥ purujitpurusattamaḥ | Vinayo jayaḥ satyasandho dāshārhaḥ sātvatāmpatiḥ ||
He drinks the soma and the nectar, is the moon (Soma), conquers many, and is the best of the many. He is humility and victory, true to his word, of the Dasharha clan, and lord of the Satvatas.

जीवो विनयिता साक्षी मुकुन्दोऽमितविक्रमः। अम्भोनिधिरनन्तात्मा महोदधिशयोऽन्तकः॥
Jīvo vinayitā sākṣhī mukundo'mitavikramaḥ | Ambhonidhiranantātmā mahodadhishayo'ntakaḥ ||
He is the living soul and the witness who guides it, Mukunda the giver of liberation, of boundless valour. He is the ocean, the infinite Self, the one who reclines on the great ocean, and the ender of all.

अजो महार्हः स्वाभाव्यो जितामित्रः प्रमोदनः। आनन्दो नन्दनो नन्दः सत्यधर्मा त्रिविक्रमः॥
Ajo mahārhaḥ svābhāvyo jitāmitraḥ pramodanaḥ | Ānando nandano nandaḥ satyadharmā trivikramaḥ ||
He is unborn, most worthy of worship, of his own innate nature, conqueror of foes and giver of delight. He is bliss, the one who gladdens, full of joy, of true dharma, and Trivikrama who covered the three worlds in three strides.

महर्षिः कपिलाचार्यः कृतज्ञो मेदिनीपतिः। त्रिपदस्त्रिदशाध्यक्षो महाशृङ्गः कृतान्तकृत्॥
Maharṣhiḥ kapilāchāryaḥ kṛtajño medinīpatiḥ | Tripadastridashādhyakṣho mahāshṛṅgaḥ kṛtāntakṛt ||
He is the great sage Kapila the teacher, grateful, lord of the earth, the three-stepped one, and overseer of the gods. As the great fish he bore the great horn, and he is the destroyer of Death itself.

महावराहो गोविन्दः सुषेणः कनकाङ्गदी। गुह्यो गभीरो गहनो गुप्तश्चक्रगदाधरः॥
Mahāvarāho govindaḥ suṣheṇaḥ kanakāṅgadī | Guhyo gabhīro gahano guptashchakragadādharaḥ ||
He is the great boar (Mahavaraha), Govinda, the leader of a fine army, wearing golden armlets. He is secret, profound, unfathomable, hidden, and bears the discus and the mace.

वेधाः स्वाङ्गोऽजितः कृष्णो दृढः सङ्कर्षणोऽच्युतः। वरुणो वारुणो वृक्षः पुष्कराक्षो महामनाः॥
Vedhāḥ svāṅgo'jitaḥ kṛṣhṇo dṛḍhaḥ saṅkarṣhaṇo'chyutaḥ | Varuṇo vāruṇo vṛkṣhaḥ puṣhkarākṣho mahāmanāḥ ||
He is the creator, complete in himself, unconquered, Krishna, firm, Sankarshana and Achyuta. He is Varuna and Varuna's son, the tree (of the world), lotus-eyed and great-minded.

भगवान् भगहाऽऽनन्दी वनमाली हलायुधः। आदित्यो ज्योतिरादित्यः सहिष्णुर्गतिसत्तमः॥
Bhagavān bhagahā''nandī vanamālī halāyudhaḥ | Ādityo jyotirādityaḥ sahiṣhṇurgatisattamaḥ ||
He is Bhagavan, possessed of all six divine excellences, who withdraws them at dissolution, and is full of bliss. He wears the forest garland (Vanamali), wields the plough (as Balarama), is the sun and the light of the sun, all-enduring, and the best refuge.

सुधन्वा खण्डपरशुर्दारुणो द्रविणप्रदः। दिवःस्पृक् सर्वदृग्व्यासो वाचस्पतिरयोनिजः॥
Sudhanvā khaṇḍaparashurdāruṇo draviṇapradaḥ | Divaḥspṛk sarvadṛgvyāso vāchaspatirayonijaḥ ||
He has a fine bow, wields the axe (as Parashurama), is terrible to the wicked and bestows wealth. He touches the heavens, sees all, is Vyasa, lord of speech, and is not born of a womb.

त्रिसामा सामगः साम निर्वाणं भेषजं भिषक्। संन्यासकृच्छमः शान्तो निष्ठा शान्तिः परायणम्॥
Trisāmā sāmagaḥ sāma nirvāṇaṃ bheṣhajaṃ bhiṣhak | Saṃnyāsakṛchchhamaḥ shānto niṣhṭhā shāntiḥ parāyaṇam ||
He is praised by the three Samans, the singer of the Sama Veda and the Sama itself; he is nirvana, the medicine and the physician for the disease of samsara. He ordains renunciation, is tranquillity and the tranquil one, the final abode, peace, and the supreme goal.

शुभाङ्गः शान्तिदः स्रष्टा कुमुदः कुवलेशयः। गोहितो गोपतिर्गोप्ता वृषभाक्षो वृषप्रियः॥
Shubhāṅgaḥ shāntidaḥ sraṣhṭā kumudaḥ kuvaleshayaḥ | Gohito gopatirgoptā vṛṣhabhākṣho vṛṣhapriyaḥ ||
He has beautiful limbs, grants peace, is the creator, the joy of the earth, and rests on the waters. He is the well-wisher of cows, their lord and protector, bull-eyed, and lover of dharma.

अनिवर्ती निवृत्तात्मा सङ्क्षेप्ता क्षेमकृच्छिवः। श्रीवत्सवक्षाः श्रीवासः श्रीपतिः श्रीमतांवरः॥
Anivartī nivṛttātmā saṅkṣheptā kṣhemakṛchchhivaḥ | Shrīvatsavakṣhāḥ shrīvāsaḥ shrīpatiḥ shrīmatāṃvaraḥ ||
He never turns back (from dharma), is withdrawn from sense-objects, contracts creation at dissolution, brings well-being and is auspicious. He bears the Shrivatsa mark on his chest, is the abode and lord of Shri, and the best among the blessed.

श्रीदः श्रीशः श्रीनिवासः श्रीनिधिः श्रीविभावनः। श्रीधरः श्रीकरः श्रेयः श्रीमाँल्लोकत्रयाश्रयः॥
Shrīdaḥ shrīshaḥ shrīnivāsaḥ shrīnidhiḥ shrīvibhāvanaḥ | Shrīdharaḥ shrīkaraḥ shreyaḥ shrīmāṃllokatrayāshrayaḥ ||
He gives Shri, is her lord and her dwelling, her treasury and the one who distributes her bounty. He bears and bestows Shri, is the highest good, ever glorious, and the refuge of the three worlds.

स्वक्षः स्वङ्गः शतानन्दो नन्दिर्ज्योतिर्गणेश्वरः। विजितात्माऽविधेयात्मा सत्कीर्तिश्छिन्नसंशयः॥
Svakṣhaḥ svaṅgaḥ shatānando nandirjyotirgaṇeshvaraḥ | Vijitātmā'vidheyātmā satkīrtishchhinnasaṃshayaḥ ||
He has beautiful eyes and beautiful limbs, a hundredfold bliss, is joy itself and lord of the luminaries. He has conquered himself, is subject to no one, of true fame, and the dispeller of all doubts.

उदीर्णः सर्वतश्चक्षुरनीशः शाश्वतस्थिरः। भूशयो भूषणो भूतिर्विशोकः शोकनाशनः॥
Udīrṇaḥ sarvatashchakṣhuranīshaḥ shāshvatasthiraḥ | Bhūshayo bhūṣhaṇo bhūtirvishokaḥ shokanāshanaḥ ||
He is exalted above all, has eyes everywhere, has no master over him, and is eternally steady. He lay on the ground (as Rama by the sea), adorns the world, is prosperity itself, free of sorrow, and destroys sorrow.

अर्चिष्मानर्चितः कुम्भो विशुद्धात्मा विशोधनः। अनिरुद्धोऽप्रतिरथः प्रद्युम्नोऽमितविक्रमः॥
Archiṣhmānarchitaḥ kumbho vishuddhātmā vishodhanaḥ | Aniruddho'pratirathaḥ pradyumno'mitavikramaḥ ||
He is radiant, worshipped by all, the vessel holding all within, of pure Self and the purifier. He is Aniruddha, without rival, Pradyumna, and of boundless valour.

कालनेमिनिहा वीरः शौरिः शूरजनेश्वरः। त्रिलोकात्मा त्रिलोकेशः केशवः केशिहा हरिः॥
Kālaneminihā vīraḥ shauriḥ shūrajaneshvaraḥ | Trilokātmā trilokeshaḥ keshavaḥ keshihā hariḥ ||
He slew the demon Kalanemi, is the hero, Shauri of the Shura line, and lord of the valiant. He is the soul and the lord of the three worlds, Keshava with beautiful hair, slayer of the demon Keshi, and Hari who removes sins.

कामदेवः कामपालः कामी कान्तः कृतागमः। अनिर्देश्यवपुर्विष्णुर्वीरोऽनन्तो धनञ्जयः॥
Kāmadevaḥ kāmapālaḥ kāmī kāntaḥ kṛtāgamaḥ | Anirdeshyavapurviṣhṇurvīro'nanto dhanañjayaḥ ||
He is the god of love and the one sought by all desires, the protector of desires, the fulfilled, the beautiful, and the author of the scriptures. His form is beyond description; he is Vishnu, the hero, the endless (Ananta), and Dhananjaya the winner of wealth.

ब्रह्मण्यो ब्रह्मकृद् ब्रह्मा ब्रह्म ब्रह्मविवर्धनः। ब्रह्मविद् ब्राह्मणो ब्रह्मी ब्रह्मज्ञो ब्राह्मणप्रियः॥
Brahmaṇyo brahmakṛd brahmā brahma brahmavivardhanaḥ | Brahmavid brāhmaṇo brahmī brahmajño brāhmaṇapriyaḥ ||
He is devoted to Brahman, maker of Brahman, Brahma and Brahman itself, and the one who increases the Veda and austerity. He knows Brahman, is the Brahmana, holds all that is Brahman, knows the Vedas, and is dear to the Brahmanas.

महाक्रमो महाकर्मा महातेजा महोरगः। महाक्रतुर्महायज्वा महायज्ञो महाहविः॥
Mahākramo mahākarmā mahātejā mahoragaḥ | Mahākraturmahāyajvā mahāyajño mahāhaviḥ ||
He has mighty strides, mighty deeds and mighty splendour, and is the great serpent. He is the great ritual, the great sacrificer, the great sacrifice and the great oblation.

स्तव्यः स्तवप्रियः स्तोत्रं स्तुतिः स्तोता रणप्रियः। पूर्णः पूरयिता पुण्यः पुण्यकीर्तिरनामयः॥
Stavyaḥ stavapriyaḥ stotraṃ stutiḥ stotā raṇapriyaḥ | Pūrṇaḥ pūrayitā puṇyaḥ puṇyakīrtiranāmayaḥ ||
He is worthy of praise, loves praise, is the hymn, the praise and the one who praises, and delights in battle. He is complete, the fulfiller, holy, of holy fame, and free from all affliction.

मनोजवस्तीर्थकरो वसुरेता वसुप्रदः। वसुप्रदो वासुदेवो वसुर्वसुमना हविः॥
Manojavastīrthakaro vasuretā vasupradaḥ | Vasuprado vāsudevo vasurvasumanā haviḥ ||
He is swift as the mind, the founder of sacred fords (teachings), golden-seeded, and the giver of wealth. He is the giver of liberation, Vasudeva, the abode of all, generous of mind, and the oblation itself.

सद्गतिः सत्कृतिः सत्ता सद्भूतिः सत्परायणः। शूरसेनो यदुश्रेष्ठः सन्निवासः सुयामुनः॥
Sadgatiḥ satkṛtiḥ sattā sadbhūtiḥ satparāyaṇaḥ | Shūraseno yadushreṣhṭhaḥ sannivāsaḥ suyāmunaḥ ||
He is the goal of the good, the good deed, pure existence, the true glory and the refuge of the righteous. He is Shurasena, the best of the Yadus, the abode of the wise, and the one who delighted the people of the Yamuna.

भूतावासो वासुदेवः सर्वासुनिलयोऽनलः। दर्पहा दर्पदो दृप्तो दुर्धरोऽथापराजितः॥
Bhūtāvāso vāsudevaḥ sarvāsunilayo'nalaḥ | Darpahā darpado dṛpto durdharo'thāparājitaḥ ||
He is the dwelling of all beings, Vasudeva, the resting place of all life, and the never-satisfied fire. He humbles the proud and grants pride to the righteous, is ever joyful, hard to hold, and unconquered.

विश्वमूर्तिर्महामूर्तिर्दीप्तमूर्तिरमूर्तिमान्। अनेकमूर्तिरव्यक्तः शतमूर्तिः शताननः॥
Vishvamūrtirmahāmūrtirdīptamūrtiramūrtimān | Anekamūrtiravyaktaḥ shatamūrtiḥ shatānanaḥ ||
He has the universe as his form, a vast form, a radiant form, and yet is formless. He has countless forms, is unmanifest, has a hundred forms and a hundred faces.

एको नैकः सवः कः किं यत् तत्पदमनुत्तमम्। लोकबन्धुर्लोकनाथो माधवो भक्तवत्सलः॥
Eko naikaḥ savaḥ kaḥ kiṃ yat tatpadamanuttamam | Lokabandhurlokanātho mādhavo bhaktavatsalaḥ ||
He is the One and the many, the sacrifice (Sava), bliss (Ka), the one inquired into (Kim), that which is (Yat), That (Tat), and the unsurpassed state. He is the kinsman and lord of the worlds, Madhava, and the lover of devotees.

सुवर्णवर्णो हेमाङ्गो वराङ्गश्चन्दनाङ्गदी। वीरहा विषमः शून्यो घृताशीरचलश्चलः॥
Suvarṇavarṇo hemāṅgo varāṅgashchandanāṅgadī | Vīrahā viṣhamaḥ shūnyo ghṛtāshīrachalashchalaḥ ||
He is golden-hued, has golden limbs, beautiful limbs and sandal-scented armlets. He slays the strong among the wicked, is unequalled, the void beyond attributes, lives on ghee offerings, and is both unmoving and moving.

अमानी मानदो मान्यो लोकस्वामी त्रिलोकधृक्। सुमेधा मेधजो धन्यः सत्यमेधा धराधरः॥
Amānī mānado mānyo lokasvāmī trilokadhṛk | Sumedhā medhajo dhanyaḥ satyamedhā dharādharaḥ ||
He is without pride, gives honour to others, is honoured by all, master of the worlds, and upholds the three worlds. He has fine intellect, was born in the sacrifice, is blessed, of true wisdom, and supports the earth.

तेजोवृषो द्युतिधरः सर्वशस्त्रभृतां वरः। प्रग्रहो निग्रहो व्यग्रो नैकशृङ्गो गदाग्रजः॥
Tejovṛṣho dyutidharaḥ sarvashastrabhṛtāṃ varaḥ | Pragraho nigraho vyagro naikashṛṅgo gadāgrajaḥ ||
He showers splendour, bears radiance and is the best of all who bear weapons. He holds the reins (of the world), restrains the wicked, never wavers, has many horns (as the Veda), and is the elder brother of Gada.

चतुर्मूर्तिश्चतुर्बाहुश्चतुर्व्यूहश्चतुर्गतिः। चतुरात्मा चतुर्भावश्चतुर्वेदविदेकपात्॥
Chaturmūrtishchaturbāhushchaturvyūhashchaturgatiḥ | Chaturātmā chaturbhāvashchaturvedavidekapāt ||
He has four forms, four arms and four emanations, and is the goal of all four stages of life. He has four aspects of being, four states, knows the four Vedas, and is the One with a single foot (the cosmos as a quarter of his glory).

समावर्तोऽनिवृत्तात्मा दुर्जयो दुरतिक्रमः। दुर्लभो दुर्गमो दुर्गो दुरावासो दुरारिहा॥
Samāvarto'nivṛttātmā durjayo duratikramaḥ | Durlabho durgamo durgo durāvāso durārihā ||
He turns the wheel of the world, his Self never turns away, he is hard to conquer and impossible to transgress. He is hard to attain, hard to reach, hard to approach, hard to dwell in (the heart without discipline), and slays the wicked.

शुभाङ्गो लोकसारङ्गः सुतन्तुस्तन्तुवर्धनः। इन्द्रकर्मा महाकर्मा कृतकर्मा कृतागमः॥
Shubhāṅgo lokasāraṅgaḥ sutantustantuvardhanaḥ | Indrakarmā mahākarmā kṛtakarmā kṛtāgamaḥ ||
He has an auspicious body, is the essence of the worlds, the fine thread (of creation) and the one who extends it. He does the deeds of Indra, great deeds, has fulfilled all deeds, and has given the scriptures.

उद्भवः सुन्दरः सुन्दो रत्ननाभः सुलोचनः। अर्को वाजसनः शृङ्गी जयन्तः सर्वविज्जयी॥
Udbhavaḥ sundaraḥ sundo ratnanābhaḥ sulochanaḥ | Arko vājasanaḥ shṛṅgī jayantaḥ sarvavijjayī ||
He is the source of all, the beautiful, the compassionate, jewel-navelled and fair-eyed. He is the sun (Arka), the giver of food, the horned one, the victorious, the all-knowing and ever-conquering.

सुवर्णबिन्दुरक्षोभ्यः सर्ववागीश्वरेश्वरः। महाह्रदो महागर्तो महाभूतो महानिधिः॥
Suvarṇabindurakṣhobhyaḥ sarvavāgīshvareshvaraḥ | Mahāhrado mahāgarto mahābhūto mahānidhiḥ ||
He is the golden syllable, unshakable, the lord of all lords of speech. He is the great lake, the great abyss, the great being and the great treasure.

कुमुदः कुन्दरः कुन्दः पर्जन्यः पावनोऽनिलः। अमृताशोऽमृतवपुः सर्वज्ञः सर्वतोमुखः॥
Kumudaḥ kundaraḥ kundaḥ parjanyaḥ pāvano'nilaḥ | Amṛtāsho'mṛtavapuḥ sarvajñaḥ sarvatomukhaḥ ||
He is the joy of the earth, the giver of fruits, pure as the jasmine, the rain-cloud, the purifier and the wind. He feeds on nectar, has an immortal body, knows all, and faces every direction.

सुलभः सुव्रतः सिद्धः शत्रुजिच्छत्रुतापनः। न्यग्रोधोऽदुम्बरोऽश्वत्थश्चाणूरान्ध्रनिषूदनः॥
Sulabhaḥ suvrataḥ siddhaḥ shatrujichchhatrutāpanaḥ | Nyagrodho'dumbaro'shvatthashchāṇūrāndhraniṣhūdanaḥ ||
He is easily reached (by devotion), keeps holy vows, is perfect, conquers and scorches the enemies. He is the banyan, the fig and the peepal tree, and the slayer of Chanura of the Andhra race.

सहस्रार्चिः सप्तजिह्वः सप्तैधाः सप्तवाहनः। अमूर्तिरनघोऽचिन्त्यो भयकृद्भयनाशनः॥
Sahasrārchiḥ saptajihvaḥ saptaidhāḥ saptavāhanaḥ | Amūrtiranagho'chintyo bhayakṛdbhayanāshanaḥ ||
He has a thousand rays, seven tongues and seven flames, and seven horses (as fire and sun). He is formless, sinless, inconceivable, the one who causes fear (to the wicked) and who destroys fear.

अणुर्बृहत्कृशः स्थूलो गुणभृन्निर्गुणो महान्। अधृतः स्वधृतः स्वास्यः प्राग्वंशो वंशवर्धनः॥
Aṇurbṛhatkṛshaḥ sthūlo guṇabhṛnnirguṇo mahān | Adhṛtaḥ svadhṛtaḥ svāsyaḥ prāgvaṃsho vaṃshavardhanaḥ ||
He is the subtlest and the vastest, slender and stout, the bearer of qualities and beyond all qualities, and the great. He is unsupported, self-supported, of beautiful face, of the most ancient lineage, and the one who extends the lineage.

भारभृत् कथितो योगी योगीशः सर्वकामदः। आश्रमः श्रमणः क्षामः सुपर्णो वायुवाहनः॥
Bhārabhṛt kathito yogī yogīshaḥ sarvakāmadaḥ | Āshramaḥ shramaṇaḥ kṣhāmaḥ suparṇo vāyuvāhanaḥ ||
He bears the burden of the world, is proclaimed by the scriptures, is the yogi and lord of yogis, and fulfils all desires. He is the refuge, the ascetic, the one who remains at dissolution, the fair-winged and the mover of the winds.

धनुर्धरो धनुर्वेदो दण्डो दमयिता दमः। अपराजितः सर्वसहो नियन्ताऽनियमोऽयमः॥
Dhanurdharo dhanurvedo daṇḍo damayitā damaḥ | Aparājitaḥ sarvasaho niyantā'niyamo'yamaḥ ||
He bears the bow, is the science of archery, the rod of justice, the one who punishes and self-restraint itself. He is unconquered, all-enduring, the controller of all, himself beyond control and beyond death.

सत्त्ववान् सात्त्विकः सत्यः सत्यधर्मपरायणः। अभिप्रायः प्रियार्होऽर्हः प्रियकृत् प्रीतिवर्धनः॥
Sattvavān sāttvikaḥ satyaḥ satyadharmaparāyaṇaḥ | Abhiprāyaḥ priyārho'rhaḥ priyakṛt prītivardhanaḥ ||
He is full of strength and goodness, pure (sattvic), truth itself and devoted to true dharma. He is the aim of all, worthy of loving offerings, worthy of worship, does what is dear to devotees, and increases their joy.

विहायसगतिर्ज्योतिः सुरुचिर्हुतभुग्विभुः। रविर्विरोचनः सूर्यः सविता रविलोचनः॥
Vihāyasagatirjyotiḥ suruchirhutabhugvibhuḥ | Ravirvirochanaḥ sūryaḥ savitā ravilochanaḥ ||
He moves through the sky, is light, of lovely radiance, the eater of oblations (fire) and all-pervading. He is the sun (Ravi, Virochana, Surya, Savita), and has the sun as his eye.

अनन्तो हुतभुग्भोक्ता सुखदो नैकजोऽग्रजः। अनिर्विण्णः सदामर्षी लोकाधिष्ठानमद्भुतः॥
Ananto hutabhugbhoktā sukhado naikajo'grajaḥ | Anirviṇṇaḥ sadāmarṣhī lokādhiṣhṭhānamadbhutaḥ ||
He is endless, receives the oblations and enjoys them, gives happiness, takes many births, and is the first-born. He never despairs, forgives the righteous, is the ground of the worlds, and is wondrous.

सनात्सनातनतमः कपिलः कपिरव्ययः। स्वस्तिदः स्वस्तिकृत्स्वस्ति स्वस्तिभुक्स्वस्तिदक्षिणः॥
Sanātsanātanatamaḥ kapilaḥ kapiravyayaḥ | Svastidaḥ svastikṛtsvasti svastibhuksvastidakṣhiṇaḥ ||
He is the eternal, the most ancient of the ancient, the tawny sage Kapila, the sun (Kapi), and imperishable. He gives well-being, creates it, is well-being itself, enjoys it, and bestows it.

अरौद्रः कुण्डली चक्री विक्रम्यूर्जितशासनः। शब्दातिगः शब्दसहः शिशिरः शर्वरीकरः॥
Araudraḥ kuṇḍalī chakrī vikramyūrjitashāsanaḥ | Shabdātigaḥ shabdasahaḥ shishiraḥ sharvarīkaraḥ ||
He is gentle, wears earrings (shaped like sea-monsters), bears the discus, is valorous, and his command is mighty. He is beyond words, the one whom the Vedas praise, cool as winter, and the maker of night.

अक्रूरः पेशलो दक्षो दक्षिणः क्षमिणांवरः। विद्वत्तमो वीतभयः पुण्यश्रवणकीर्तनः॥
Akrūraḥ peshalo dakṣho dakṣhiṇaḥ kṣhamiṇāṃvaraḥ | Vidvattamo vītabhayaḥ puṇyashravaṇakīrtanaḥ ||
He is never cruel, is gentle and skilled, generous, and the best of the forbearing. He is the wisest, fearless, and hearing and singing of him brings merit.

उत्तारणो दुष्कृतिहा पुण्यो दुःस्वप्ननाशनः। वीरहा रक्षणः सन्तो जीवनः पर्यवस्थितः॥
Uttāraṇo duṣhkṛtihā puṇyo duḥsvapnanāshanaḥ | Vīrahā rakṣhaṇaḥ santo jīvanaḥ paryavasthitaḥ ||
He lifts beings across samsara, destroys evil deeds, is holy, and dispels bad dreams. He slays the wicked, protects, is the virtuous one, the life of all, and abides everywhere.

अनन्तरूपोऽनन्तश्रीर्जितमन्युर्भयापहः। चतुरश्रो गभीरात्मा विदिशो व्यादिशो दिशः॥
Anantarūpo'nantashrīrjitamanyurbhayāpahaḥ | Chaturashro gabhīrātmā vidisho vyādisho dishaḥ ||
He has endless forms and endless glory, has conquered anger, and removes fear. He is perfectly just, of profound Self, and is the one who gives each their due across every direction.

अनादिर्भूर्भुवो लक्ष्मीः सुवीरो रुचिराङ्गदः। जननो जनजन्मादिर्भीमो भीमपराक्रमः॥
Anādirbhūrbhuvo lakṣhmīḥ suvīro ruchirāṅgadaḥ | Janano janajanmādirbhīmo bhīmaparākramaḥ ||
He is without beginning, the ground of the earth, and Lakshmi (fortune) herself, the great hero with gleaming armlets. He is the begetter, the origin of all births, the awe-inspiring, and of terrifying valour.

आधारनिलयोऽधाता पुष्पहासः प्रजागरः। ऊर्ध्वगः सत्पथाचारः प्राणदः प्रणवः पणः॥
Ādhāranilayo'dhātā puṣhpahāsaḥ prajāgaraḥ | Ūrdhvagaḥ satpathāchāraḥ prāṇadaḥ praṇavaḥ paṇaḥ ||
He is the abode of the supports of the world, himself without a creator, his smile like a blossoming flower, and ever awake. He moves upward, follows the path of the good, gives life, is the syllable Om, and the one who rewards.

प्रमाणं प्राणनिलयः प्राणभृत्प्राणजीवनः। तत्त्वं तत्त्वविदेकात्मा जन्ममृत्युजरातिगः॥
Pramāṇaṃ prāṇanilayaḥ prāṇabhṛtprāṇajīvanaḥ | Tattvaṃ tattvavidekātmā janmamṛtyujarātigaḥ ||
He is the measure of truth, the abode of life-breath, the sustainer of life and the life of the living. He is Reality itself, the knower of Reality, the one Self, and beyond birth, death and old age.

भूर्भुवःस्वस्तरुस्तारः सविता प्रपितामहः। यज्ञो यज्ञपतिर्यज्वा यज्ञाङ्गो यज्ञवाहनः॥
Bhūrbhuvaḥsvastarustāraḥ savitā prapitāmahaḥ | Yajño yajñapatiryajvā yajñāṅgo yajñavāhanaḥ ||
He is the tree of the three worlds (Bhuh, Bhuvah, Svah), the saviour, the progenitor, and the great-grandfather of all. He is the sacrifice, lord of sacrifice, the sacrificer, the limbs of sacrifice and the one who carries it to completion.

यज्ञभृद् यज्ञकृद् यज्ञी यज्ञभुग् यज्ञसाधनः। यज्ञान्तकृद् यज्ञगुह्यमन्नमन्नाद एव च॥
Yajñabhṛd yajñakṛd yajñī yajñabhug yajñasādhanaḥ | Yajñāntakṛd yajñaguhyamannamannāda eva cha ||
He upholds, performs, is the master of, enjoys and accomplishes the sacrifice. He completes the sacrifice, is its secret, and is both the food and the eater of food.

आत्मयोनिः स्वयञ्जातो वैखानः सामगायनः। देवकीनन्दनः स्रष्टा क्षितीशः पापनाशनः॥
Ātmayoniḥ svayañjāto vaikhānaḥ sāmagāyanaḥ | Devakīnandanaḥ sraṣhṭā kṣhitīshaḥ pāpanāshanaḥ ||
He is his own source, self-born, the one who digs (as the boar), and the singer of the Sama. He is the son of Devaki, the creator, lord of the earth, and destroyer of sin.

शङ्खभृन्नन्दकी चक्री शार्ङ्गधन्वा गदाधरः। रथाङ्गपाणिरक्षोभ्यः सर्वप्रहरणायुधः॥
Shaṅkhabhṛnnandakī chakrī shārṅgadhanvā gadādharaḥ | Rathāṅgapāṇirakṣhobhyaḥ sarvapraharaṇāyudhaḥ ||
He holds the conch, the sword Nandaka and the discus, wields the Sharnga bow and the mace. With the chariot-wheel in hand, he is unshakable and bears every kind of weapon.

वनमाली गदी शार्ङ्गी शङ्खी चक्री च नन्दकी। श्रीमान् नारायणो विष्णुर्वासुदेवोऽभिरक्षतु॥
Vanamālī gadī shārṅgī shaṅkhī chakrī cha nandakī | Shrīmān nārāyaṇo viṣhṇurvāsudevo'bhirakṣhatu ||
Wearing the forest garland and bearing the mace, the Sharnga bow, the conch, the discus and the sword Nandaka, may the glorious Narayana, Vishnu, Vasudeva protect us.

श्रीराम राम रामेति रमे रामे मनोरमे। सहस्रनाम तत्तुल्यं रामनाम वरानने॥
Shrīrāma rāma rāmeti rame rāme manorame | Sahasranāma tattulyaṃ rāmanāma varānane ||
Shiva tells Parvati: "O lovely one, I delight in Rama by repeating 'Shri Rama, Rama, Rama'. O fair-faced one, the single name of Rama is equal to all the thousand names."
